Full Body Cadaver Anatomy
Course
Understanding your clients’ anatomic structure is imperative to keeping them healthy and progressing appropriately. This course will provide an in-depth mechanical foundation for health, fitness, and rehabilitation specialists. Students will experience the musculoskeletal system in 3-Dimensions, while examining the mechanical ability of all tissues involved in motion. We will explore function outside of anatomical position by examining muscular participation with respect to axes of motion and attachment sites. Participants will start to learn that the fascial structure is an integral part in joint stability and joint function, and will begin to understand the importance of the role fascia plays in muscle function and integrated movement. Discover what traditional Kinesiology did not explore, and use new-found knowledge to explore the structural influences of the fascial web. Classes contain both lecture and hands-on human cadaver exploration. Students spend an entire 8-hour day in the lab
with a Prosected human specimen exploring: Muscle attachment sites, Muscle
fiber direction, Fascial attachment sites, Fascial fiber direction, Joint
axes, Common anatomical occurrences not typically in books and Anomalies.
Palpation techniques, joint motions, and joint surfaces will be explored.
This weekend course is comprised of a 2-hour
lecture, a full 8-hour day in the lab, and a 4-hour application workshop..
Orientation Lecture (Friday, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.)
Upon arrival students will participate in a preparatory lecture discussing
lab procedures, lab behavior, the benefits of exploring the myofacial
skeletal system in this unique way and answering any questions students may
have regarding cadaver exploration. Pictures will be presented.
Full Body Exploration (Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
Students spend an entire 8-hour day in the lab with a Prosected human
specimen exploring: Muscle attachment sites, Muscle fiber direction, Fascial
attachment sites, Fascial fiber direction, Joint axes, Common anatomical
occurrences not typically in books and Anomalies. Palpation techniques,
joint motions, and joint surfaces will be explored.
Exercise Application and Mechanical Analysis of Movement Workshop
(Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
The weekend concludes with a 4 hour lecture focusing on application and
mechanical analysis of movement, exploring joint structure, joint range of
motion, muscle mechanics, muscle function, and common flaws in traditional
and “functional” strength exercises. Different types of stretching and
“release” techniques (myofascial release, active release and massage) will
be examined for their influence on muscular control, and ultimately, joint
stability. Find out if you or your colleagues may be contributing to your
clients’ dysfunction due to mechanical intricacies rarely explored in the
exercise and rehab industry.
